The New Jersey Natural Gas Company today advised borough officials that they plan to begin testing their natural gas lines within the borough of Seaside Park tentatively on the dates of December 15th and 16th. The testing process involves the energizing of gas mains and services with pressurized natural gas. During these dates re-entry to the borough by residents and contractors will not be permitted due to safety concerns. Only essential emergency workers will be allowed in the borough on those dates to assist in the re-energizing process. We recognize this is a major inconvenience, but this step is necessary to ensure public safety while this work is performed. As soon as an area has been successfully re-pressurized, a second team will begin meter rebuilds for that area. This will take place in Seaside Park after December 16th. Once a meter has been re-established and you see a New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) Official Tag on the customer gas valve just past your meter, your home’s natural gas service may be turned on by your qualified technician after it is determined your natural gas equipment is safe to operate. The New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) Official Tag must be filled out and returned to the Seaside Park Code Enforcement Office located at10 Allen Street,TomsRiver.

Barring unforeseen conditions that may delay our work, we anticipate restoring natural gas service by the end of December to all of our customers whose homes have not sustained such major damage that we cannot safely restore their service.

If you smell an odor of natural gas, leave the building immediately. DO NOT light matches, touch electrical switches or appliances, or use your telephone. From a safe location, customers should notify us of all gas leaks immediately at 1-800-GAS-LEAK (1-800-427-5325).

Remember the dates of December 15th and 16th are tentative. If any problems are encountered in the northern beach areas that require extra time to address, our tentative dates will change. Please visit this website often as we get closer to that time frame.
